What is Community Solar?

Community Solar allows residents, small businesses, organizations, and municipalities to enjoy the benefits of solar energy without having to install their own solar energy systems. Community Solar programs are designed to work hand in hand with local utilities to ensure everyone participating in the program receives credits on their electricity bills to help offset electricity costs. Additionally, unlike utility scale solar, Community Solar projects only require 30-40 acres of land and they are connected directly to the electric distribution system – providing power and grid benefits where they are needed most…at the local level.

Currently, 22 states and Washington, D.C. have legislation that enables Community Solar.
